How To Scrape Podcasts & Outreach To Them Automatically 🤖

Kyrill Krystallis on the topic of how you’re able to scrape podcasts based on content category & outreach to them in a NON-spammy manner.

Podcast Scraper

Before I begin, note that there are 3 main business applications to this scrape/automation.

The first, is of course outreaching for podcast appearances, which is perfect for entrepreneurs looking to build out their personal brand.

The second application lies in Influencer Outreach/Closing Partnership-Affiliate Deals which is primarily suitable for B2C Ecommerce companies but also has an application in the B2B framework of things as you could potentially close a few as channel partners.

And the last, of course, is outreaching to sell solutions to podcast hosts. Examples could include selling podcast intro/outros, voice-overs, hosting, etc.

The scrape/automation consists of the following tools:

-Scrapebox

-Super Email Validator

-Lemlist

So let’s start:

Through the use of Scrapebox we’re able to scrape Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts & Lybsin sub-domains based on the categorical keywords we’re after which should be directly correlated to the podcast content category we’re after.

Our search string would look something like this:

site:https://podcasts.google.com/ AND “@gmail.com” AND “Marketing Podcast”

And we’d adjust it accordingly to be able to scrape Apple’s Podcast directory and Libsyn’s sub-domain directory.

Libsyn’s search would look something like this:

site:https://*.libsyn.com/website AND (category)

Once we have a good set of urls, we’re then able to run Scrapebox’s email grabber directly on the results for a scraped email yield.

For our Libsyn urls, we use a before|after grabber which scrapes emails directly from the “Email Us” grabber. To set it up, check the pages source code and add the pattern in the custom grabber.

Once our emails have been scraped & verified, we’d then plug them into our aforementioned “Super Email Validator”, which should essentially check the validity of all emails.

Once the emails have been verified we can then plug them into Lemlist, which will serve as our email automation tool (with a time-out).

Note that all applications would naturally include a cold email-based approach.

I’d strongly recommend that for both approaches, you use a question-based copy approach, hence, and initial template along the lines of:

“Hey is the right email to contact (Podcast Name) on?”

If yes, proceed with your second template, hence, the pitch.

If no, discard.

Lastly, if you can, get a Virtual assistant to monitor the outreach & responses coming through, as this will add the necessary human element & allow for outsourced moderation of the automation & responses.
